FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Trucks carrying humanitarian aid were moving from Egypt into Gaza on Sunday, Egyptian state television reported.

Israel said Saturday it would allow aid deliveries and implement “humanitarian pauses” in military operations in Gaza beginning Sunday.

The Israeli military later said it had conducted its first airdrops of supplies over the territory, sharing images and video of the operation.

The moves follow growing international pressure on Israel amid warnings of a looming famine in Gaza.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered a temporary pause in military operations across Gaza on Sunday, Israeli media reported, following consultations with senior officials and mounting international pressure over the humanitarian crisis.

State-owned Kan TV News said the decision came after Netanyahu met with Defense Minister Israel Katz, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, and other top aides.

Earlier Saturday, the Israel Defense Forces announced plans to resume airdrops of humanitarian aid into Gaza later that night. Palestinian sources and eyewitnesses confirmed that aid parcels were dropped over northern Gaza in the evening.

The move follows urgent warnings from humanitarian organizations about worsening starvation in Gaza, where access to basic necessities has been severely restricted since Israel closed all border crossings in March.
