BOLU — Nine police officers were hospitalized after being exposed to toxic fumes during a narcotics inspection on the Anatolian Highway, according to a statement from the Bolu Governor’s Office.
Anti-narcotics teams stopped a foreign-registered vehicle traveling toward Istanbul and discovered a suspicious substance in the car’s fuel tank. During the inspection, officers were affected by fumes emitted from the substance.
Two officers remain under observation in intensive care, though their condition is not life-threatening. Three are receiving inpatient treatment, three are being treated on an outpatient basis, and one has been discharged.
