FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Turkish police seized 801.5 kilograms of methamphetamine and detained two suspects during a major operation in Istanbul, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced Tuesday.
The operation was conducted in the Arnavutkoy district on the European side of the city, Yerlikaya said in a statement on the social media platform X.
Authorities confiscated 773 kilograms of liquid methamphetamine stored in 29 containers and 28.5 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, according to Yerlikaya.
A video posted by Yerlikaya showed police units, accompanied by sniffer dogs, raiding a truck in a parking lot. The methamphetamine was discovered concealed in multiple compartments within the vehicle.
Turkish security forces regularly carry out operations targeting drug trafficking as part of the country’s efforts to combat narcotics abuse.
