Türkiye’s exports to Syria surged 69.6 percent in 2025 to 2.6 billion U.S. dollars, the Turkish Exporters Assembly has confirmed, marking one of the sharpest annual increases in bilateral trade in recent years.
The cereals, pulses, oilseeds and related products sector led the expansion, rising 35.4 percent from 2024 to reach 700 million dollars in sales.
Strong gains were also recorded in chemicals, up 78.6 percent to nearly 300 million dollars, and in electrical and electronic products, which climbed 61 percent to 224 million dollars.
Gaziantep remained Türkiye’s top exporting province to Syria with 653 million dollars in shipments, a 35.7 percent increase from the previous year.
Istanbul followed with 382 million dollars and Ankara with 282 million dollars.
Celal Kadooglu, who heads TIM’s Syria Desk, said the growth reflected “a year‑long, systematic effort,” citing close coordination between exporters and public authorities as well as rising regional investment. He said a more stable Middle East and Syria’s reintegration into regional trade networks would further expand commercial ties.
The surge underscores Türkiye’s widening economic footprint in northern Syria, particularly in areas adjacent to Turkish‑controlled zones and along trade corridors established after the fall of Bashar al‑Assad’s government in December 2024.
Overall, Türkiye’s exports rose 4.5 percent year on year to 273.4 billion dollars in 2025, the highest annual figure in the country’s history.
