British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has said that the United Kingdom is taking additional steps to strengthen security at its military bases in Cyprus amid heightened regional tensions.
Starmer told reporters that two Wildcat helicopters announced earlier this week will arrive on the island on Saturday. He said the government is implementing further measures to protect British forces stationed in the area.
He reiterated that the UK’s installations in Cyprus have not been used for offensive operations against Iran, saying his government’s priority is to prevent further escalation and maintain regional stability.
