UNITED NATIONS — The Secretary-General of the United Nations expressed determination to relaunch negotiations on the Cyprus issue, signaling a renewed diplomatic effort ahead of the organization’s high-level week.
Speaking during a press briefing, he said he would meet with leaders from both communities on the sidelines of the General Assembly.
While avoiding predictions, he emphasized the importance of dialogue and reiterated his commitment to supporting a process that could lead to meaningful progress.
The remarks come amid preparations for a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings in New York, where the Cyprus issue is expected to feature prominently.
The Secretary-General said the goal is to explore realistic pathways forward and build on recent efforts to foster trust between the parties.
