FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The United Nations has warned that 14,000 infants in Gaza could die within 48 hours if emergency aid does not reach them, according to UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher.

Fletcher, who leads the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, told the BBC that the figure was based on a survey conducted by teams on the ground in Gaza.

“I want to save as many of these 14,000 babies as we can in the next 48 hours,” Fletcher said.

The warning comes amid ongoing restrictions on humanitarian aid entering Gaza, with UN officials calling for immediate action to prevent further loss of life.
