FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Northern and central China are experiencing a record-breaking heatwave, with temperatures soaring above 40 degrees Celsius in multiple cities.
Zhengzhou, a city of over 13 million in Henan province, recorded 41 degrees Celsius on Monday.
Elsewhere, temperatures climbed as high as 42.2 degrees, with Linzhou reaching 43.2 degrees.
China’s national weather office reported that 99 measuring stations set new heat records for May.
Authorities expect the extreme heat to persist until Friday, with some areas seeing temperature drops of up to 15 degrees.
The heatwave has sparked concerns over climate change, as China continues to experience more frequent and intense weather events.
