On this day in 1959, a 50 year old man accused of unlawfully wounding his wife with a meat chopper, was declared insane and sent to the Cyprus Mental Hospital.
The man, a resident of Pano Iakatamia, was put under the observation of Mental Specialist, Dr. Andreas Mikellides, after he appeared in court.
Dr Mikellides said in evidence that accused was not able to follow court proceedings.
His wife told the court that as she was preparing a lemonade for her husband on January 14, he walked behind her and hit her on the head with a meat chopper.
She was taken to hospital for treatment, but recovered.
