FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE — The governor of Iran’s Hormozgan province, Mohammad Ashouri Taziani, dismissed claims that sabotage caused the deadly explosion at Shahid Rajaee Port, IRNA reported Tuesday.
The blast, which occurred Saturday, killed at least 70 people and injured over 1,200.
While speculation from foreign media suggested sabotage, Taziani said preliminary investigations did not support the hypothesis. Instead, he attributed the incident to safety lapses and passive defense failures, according to the provincial crisis management headquarters.
Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni echoed these findings Monday, citing “certain negligence” as a factor behind the explosion.
