FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE -Authorities arrested five people during a sweep operation targeting illegal residency and employment in the old town of Nicosia, police said Tuesday.
Officers checked 72 people across shops and businesses, detaining three for allegedly residing illegally in Cyprus and two more for illegal employment.
The operation involved personnel from the police immigration office, crime prevention unit, Ledra police station, Tax Department, and Nicosia District Organisation.
During inspections, authorities also reported hygiene and safety violations at several establishments.
