FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Italy’s leading cultural landmarks welcomed more visitors in 2024 than the country’s total population, with over 60 million tickets sold, according to newly released data.
The Colosseum in Rome was the most visited site, attracting 14.7 million people, followed by Florence’s Uffizi Gallery with 5.3 million and the ancient city of Pompeii with 4.3 million.
Ticket purchases generated more than 382 million euros in revenue, with sales at the Colosseum alone surpassing 100 million euros.
The figures do not include the Vatican Museums, which receive around 6 million visitors annually and would rank second among Italy’s most visited attractions if counted.
