FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The Cyprus Drug Enforcement Unit (YKAN), in cooperation with Customs officials, arrested a 23-year-old man Tuesday in connection with the importation and possession of a large quantity of cannabis.
Authorities intercepted the suspect at Paphos International Airport at approximately 9:30 p.m. upon his arrival from a European country. A subsequent search of his luggage uncovered two vacuum-sealed nylon packages containing cannabis, with a total gross weight of 16 kilograms and 776 grams.
The suspect was taken into custody on charges of a flagrant offense and later re-arrested under a judicial warrant. He remains detained as investigations continue.
