FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The Cyprus Police Association condemned recent criticism of the force after two officers were seen having sex in a patrol car, urging the public to allow a fair investigation into a widely discussed incident.
In a statement, the union said such behavior has no place in law enforcement and assured that police leadership has ordered an immediate probe.
“The trust of the public is invaluable, and we will not compromise on ethics or professionalism,” the statement said. “However, we are concerned by the wave of negativity directed at the entire force over a single event.”
The association defended officers who “work professionally and often risk their lives to ensure public safety,” adding that it is unfair to judge the entire force based on one case.
“We support our members and every officer who honors the uniform and their mission,” the statement said. “We do not need scapegoating. We need truth, justice, and human understanding.”
