NICOSIA— A man released last month from the Central Prison in Nicosia has filed a police complaint alleging he was sexually assaulted by two fellow inmates during his incarceration.
According to media reports, police have launched an investigation and are interviewing other prisoners who shared the same cellblock.
The prison administration has also opened an internal inquiry to determine the circumstances of the alleged assault and how it may have gone unnoticed by guards.
Authorities have begun reviewing closed-circuit surveillance footage as part of the ongoing investigation.
