Norway is experiencing a rare burst of midsummer heat, with temperatures soaring past 30 degrees Celsius across much of the country, reports NRK, the state radio.

In Oslo, the mercury is expected to hit 32 degrees, surpassing Madrid, where temperatures will remain just below the 30-degree mark.

The heatwave is sweeping across southern and central Norway, bringing near-tropical conditions to cities like Bergen, which is forecast to reach 30 degrees. Coastal areas are also enjoying warm sea temperatures, drawing crowds to beaches and waterfronts.

Nesbyen in Buskerud, known for holding Norway’s all-time heat record, is set to exceed 30 degrees again today, along with neighboring Gol. Fredrikstad leads the pack with a forecast high of 33 degrees, while Sandefjord and Drøbak are expected to match Oslo at 32.

Other cities including Trondheim, Kristiansand, Stavern, Kragerø, and Ålesund are also bracing for temperatures near 30 degrees. In contrast, northern regions such as Tromsø, Bodø, and Alta will see milder conditions, ranging between 20 and 25 degrees.

Authorities have issued a yellow-level forest fire advisory due to the dry conditions and elevated temperatures. Residents are urged to stay hydrated and take precautions against heat-related health risks.
