FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The Department of Forestry said Sunday that the risk of forest fires across the country on Monday will reach “Red Alert” levels.
Officials warned that starting a fire is a criminal offense under both the Forest Law and the Law on the Prevention and Extinguishing of Fires in the Countryside, with violators facing severe penalties.
The department urged the public to exercise extreme caution during outdoor activities and to avoid any actions that could spark a blaze.
Anyone who sees smoke or fire is asked to immediately call 1407 for the Forestry Department or 112 for emergency services.
