Syria’s central bank said Thursday it has not set an official date for introducing a new national currency, adding that details will be announced once preparations are complete.
The bank urged the public to rely only on information published on its official website and stressed that all banking operations continue normally without affecting services to citizens and investors.
Central Bank Governor Abdelkader Al‑Hosri said in August the institution was in advanced stages of planning for the new currency, which will be issued in six denominations and feature a minimalist design without images or symbols, in line with global trends.
