A drone believed to be of Russian origin crashed Friday in a rural area of northwestern Turkey, authorities said.
The Interior Ministry said the unmanned aerial vehicle, initially assessed as an Orlan‑10 used for reconnaissance, was found in the Cubuklubala district of Kocaeli province. The incident is under investigation.
On Monday, Turkey said it shot down an unidentified drone approaching its airspace over the Black Sea.
In recent months, Turkish‑flagged and operated commercial vessels have been targeted in the Black Sea by missile and drone strikes linked to the Russia‑Ukraine conflict.
Ankara has condemned the attacks and called for protection of maritime trade and freedom of navigation in the region.
