66‑year‑old woman in critical condition after Larnaca road collision

Police are investigating the circumstances of a serious road collision in Larnaca on Sunday that left a 66‑year‑old woman critically injured.

The crash occurred around noon on Giannou Kranidioti Avenue, near the traffic‑light junction with Stratigou Timayia Avenue. Police said a car driven by a 70‑year‑old man, with his 66‑year‑old wife as passenger, collided under unclear circumstances with a second vehicle driven by a 40‑year‑old man. His 45‑year‑old wife and their two children, aged 8½ and 4½, were also in the car. After the impact, the second vehicle struck a nearby electricity pole.

Firefighters freed the 66‑year‑old woman from the wreckage, and all six people involved were taken by ambulance to Larnaca General Hospital. Doctors determined the woman had suffered severe injuries; she was intubated and transferred to Nicosia General Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

The 45‑year‑old woman, the 40‑year‑old driver and the younger child remain hospitalized for treatment and observation. The older child and the 70‑year‑old man were treated and discharged.
