Water Levels in Cyprus Dams Drop to 13.8%, Well Below Last Year

Water levels in Cyprus’ dams have fallen to 13.8% of capacity, down sharply from 26% at the same time last year, the Water Development Department has confirmed.

Total storage stands at 40.08 million cubic meters, compared with 75.7 million a year ago.

At the island’s largest reservoir, Kouris Dam, capacity is at 12.3% (14.1 million cubic meters), down from 21.7% last year.

Asprokremmos Dam, the second‑largest, is at 12.5%, compared with 27.8% a year earlier. Evretou Dam stands at 18%, down from 25.2%.

Two smaller dams show the strongest performance: Kalopanayiotis is full at 100%, up from 72.2%, while Pomou is at 94.7%, compared with 35.5% last year.

The weakest levels are recorded at three reservoirs of the Southern Conveyor Project: Achna (1.8%), Germasogeia (3.3%) and Kalavasos (8%).
