A quantity of cannabis with a gross weight of seven kilograms has been seized by Larnaca’s anti-narcotics unit, after a 30-year-old man was arrested to assist with the investigation.
The discovery came about through cooperation between the Cyprus Customs Service and its counterparts abroad, as well as the Cyprus Customs Department. Following an assessment of intelligence received, officers identified two postal packages that had arrived in Cyprus from overseas. Subsequent examination of the parcels revealed a total of seven kilograms of cannabis concealed within them.
Further police inquiries led to testimony implicating a 30-year-old man, who was arrested today under a court warrant and taken into custody.
A search of his flat followed the arrest, during which officers recovered:
- A further quantity of cannabis, weighing 10 grams
- A quantity of cocaine, weighing 10 grams
- A grinder bearing traces of cannabis
- Various items of drug paraphernalia
- A set of precision scales
- Two partially smoked cannabis cigarettes
The case is being investigated by the Larnaca Provincial Police (YKAN).
