Any new crossing points on the island must benefit both Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, President Nikos Christodoulides has said, signaling readiness to open all four locations previously agreed during expanded Cyprus talks.
Asked about Nicosia’s mayor proposing a new crossing in Kaimakli, Christodoulides said the goal is not to open a point that serves only one side.
He said the government is prepared to move ahead with Kaimakli and Mia Milia, but added that crossings in Athienou, Aglantzia or Kokkina should also open so Greek Cypriots are equally served.
He said the government is reviewing all proposals submitted by local authorities and noted that steps have already been taken to ease traffic congestion at the Agios Dometios crossing.
