Authorities in Cyprus are intensifying the culling of sheep and goats infected with foot‑and‑mouth disease in the Larnaca district.

Roughly 2,000 animals have been put down so far in the village of Oroklini as part of containment efforts.

The government also received 529,000 vaccine doses on Saturday morning, shipped to Cyprus by the European Commission to support the emergency response.

Health and veterinary officials say the culling and vaccination campaign will continue at pace as they work to prevent further spread of the highly contagious livestock disease.
