European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen expressed the EU’s support for Cyprus and all member states following the overnight drone strike on the British base at Akrotiri, the Commission chief said Monday.
Von der Leyen, writing on social media after speaking with President Nikos Christodoulides, said the Union stands “collectively, firmly and unequivocally” with its members against any threat. Her remarks referred to the incident involving an unmanned aircraft that hit the UK military installation shortly after midnight.
