Cyprus Recalls Two Coffee Makers Over Burn‑Risk Safety Defects

Cyprus’ Department of Electromechanical Services on Monday announced the recall and withdrawal of two Cypriot‑coffee makers after inspectors found they pose a serious burn risk.

The affected products are:

• RAF R.150 • SILVER LB170

Both devices, classified as kitchen appliances, were found to violate safety requirements under the EU Low Voltage Directive. Authorities said the machines can overflow during operation — or if lifted from their base — creating a risk of burns.

Distributors have begun voluntary market withdrawal and are required to offer consumers a free and effective remedy with no time limit. Consumers are urged to return the products to the distributors.

Anyone aware of points of sale or needing further information may contact the department at 22800514 or 22800522, or via email at msa@ems.mcw.gov.cy.

The department also reminded the public that dangerous non‑food products detected in the EU can be monitored through the Safety Gate rapid‑alert system.
