A 29-year-old man was arrested Thursday morning following a dramatic police chase through the streets of Limassol.
According to police, members of the city’s bicycle patrol spotted the suspect around 11:30 a.m. and approached him for a check. A warrant had been issued for his arrest after he failed to appear in court.
Upon seeing the officers, the man reportedly drew a knife and threatened them while shouting and causing public alarm. He then fled into a nearby kiosk, continuing to brandish the weapon.
Police managed to subdue the suspect and disarm him. He was taken into custody to assist with the investigation.
The Limassol Minor Offenses Department is continuing its inquiries.
