Cyprus should not be discussing blanket foreclosure suspensions at this stage, Finance Minister Makis Keravnos has said , warning that any decisions must avoid creating wider economic risks.
Keravnos said ratings agencies and the European Union — from which Cyprus has received loan support — are closely monitoring developments. He argued that the existing legal framework should be strengthened rather than paused, so that problems can be resolved without endangering financial stability.
On regional tensions, the minister said the government is assessing potential economic impacts from the Middle East crisis on a daily basis.
Keravnos also called for immediate, decisive measures to contain the threat posed by foot‑and‑mouth disease.
He made the remarks after a meeting with DISY leader Annita Demetriou.
