Bus drivers hold two‑hour work stoppage over traffic‑camera concerns

Bus drivers affiliated with the SEK and PEO unions will stage a two‑hour work stoppage on Friday morning, protesting what they say are unresolved problems linked to the island’s traffic‑camera system.

In a joint statement, the unions said repeated warnings to the Transport Ministry had gone unanswered, despite concerns that the operation of the camera network is creating difficulties for professional drivers.

They said they had proposed installing red‑light warning systems on buses to prevent sudden braking, which they argue poses safety risks for passengers.

The unions apologized to the public for any inconvenience caused by the strike.
