Tourist bookings to Cyprus have begun to rebound after a slowdown linked to recent geopolitical tensions, the deputy tourism minister has said.

Speaking at the annual general assembly of the Cyprus Hotel Managers Association, Deputy Minister Kostas Koumis said reservations had shown “clear signs of returning to normal” in recent days following weeks of weaker demand.

Travel warnings, flight disruptions and wider uncertainty in the Eastern Mediterranean — has temporarily dampened demand from key markets.

Tourism is one of Cyprus’ most important industries, accounting for a significant share of GDP and employment, and fluctuations in bookings have an immediate impact on the wider economy.

Koumis said the ministry had been closely monitoring the situation and working with partners to stabilise the market after the dip caused by regional developments.
