President Nikos Christodoulides said he will make decisions on the foreclosure‑related bills based on what he believes serves Cyprus’ long‑term interests, not the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Asked whether he is considering sending the laws back to Parliament, he said only that he is studying the matter while taking into account the country’s institutions and Constitution.

Christodoulides also voiced concern about the composition of the next Parliament.

He stressed the responsibility borne by all political actors ahead of the elections and criticized the outgoing House for pushing through a large number of bills at the last minute, including proposals he said are unconstitutional.
