Cyprus issues January–February economic update

Cyprus’ Statistical Service has published its “Monthly Economic Developments” bulletin for January–February 2026, outlining recent trends across key sectors.

Manufacturing output rose 1.5% in January compared with a year earlier.

Building activity continued to expand, with the total area of approved building permits reaching 3.27 million square meters in January–December 2025, up 41% from the previous year.

Motor‑vehicle registrations increased 15.1% in the first two months of 2026, totaling 9,020. Private saloon cars rose 16.2% to 6,381, while light trucks were up 18.7% to 919.

The Consumer Price Index increased 0.3% in January–February compared with the same period in 2025.

Goods imports reached €2.11 billion in the first two months of the year, a decline of 4.5%. Exports fell 18.5% to €766.2 million.

Tourist arrivals totaled 268,141 in January–February, up 9.1% from a year earlier.
