Julie Davis, the U.S. ambassador to Cyprus since 2023 and currently the chargé d’affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, is resigning from the State Department.
The Financial Times reported that Davis chose to retire over disagreements with President Donald Trump’s policy on Ukraine and what the newspaper described as reduced U.S. support for Kyiv.
The State Department rejected that account, saying Davis had been a steadfast supporter of the Trump administration’s efforts to achieve lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine.
Davis is expected to leave Kyiv in June before formally retiring.
