Dozens of Larnaca residents held a protest over delays in development plans for the city’s port and marina, gathering between the roundabout and the port entrance and calling on the government to deliver on its commitments.
Protesters demanded an end to what they described as prolonged setbacks and urged progress on developing the surrounding land areas.
The demonstration was organized unanimously by the Larnaca Development Committee, which noted that two years have passed since the termination of the contract with Kition Ocean Holdings and that no major work has begun on either project.
Larnaca Mayor Andreas Vyras questioned how much longer the city must wait, citing delays in a study commissioned from Greece’s Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations as well as setbacks affecting the planned construction of a nautical club at the marina.
