Police in Cyprus are warning the public about a new phone‑scam scheme involving callers posing as representatives of an online financial‑services platform.
In a statement, authorities said the scammers aim to steal personal data and withdraw money from victims’ bank accounts. The calls come from Cypriot and foreign numbers, with victims instructed to follow automated prompts and press specific keypad numbers to “confirm” or “approve” supposed transactions.
Police urged the public to be cautious and to independently verify any unexpected calls or messages before completing any payment or online transaction.
