A new €3 customs duty on previously duty‑free parcels worth up to €150 from non‑EU online platforms — including major retailers Shein and Temu — took effect across the European Union on Wednesday.
Customs officials say most platforms have already updated their systems, meaning the charge is added at checkout.
A spokesman for Cyprus Customs told state radio the measure is expected to generate €10–12 million a year for the state, though 75% of that revenue must be returned to the EU.
