Civil Defense officials have recently signed an agreement with CYTA to develop the country’s next‑generation 112 emergency system, a project expected to be completed within 20 months.
Civil Defense spokesman Panayiotis Liasidis told state radio the upgraded platform will serve as the national emergency call center, supporting all response agencies, including the Fire Service, Cyprus Police, Ambulance Service, Forestry Department, National Guard, the Joint Rescue Coordination Center and Civil Defense.
He said the system will handle voice calls, real‑time text messages, images, video, location data and automatic eCall alerts from vehicles, giving first responders faster and more complete information during critical incidents.
