Housing is one of the government’s most important priorities, President Nikos Christodoulides said in a recorded message on housing policy, in which he unveiled two new Housing Schemes.
The first allows families to make use of their existing property to build additional housing for their children or grandchildren. Under the scheme, a family can build an extra home on land it already owns, even in cases where the permitted building density has already been reached.
The second scheme involves the use of state land for the benefit of young families. A total of 570 state plots are being made available across all districts, with further subdivisions to follow, priced at 25% of their value.
The President said the aim was to deliver more housing, faster licensing procedures, better use of state land, cooperation with the private sector, and interventions that offer real solutions to citizens.
