The Russian military claims that the airport in Taganrog in southern Russia was attacked with American medium-range missiles from Ukraine on Tuesday evening.
Six ATACMS ballistic missiles were reportedly launched. According to Russia, all were shot down or diverted, Reuters and AFP report.
Several explosions were reported in the area on Wednesday morning, writes Kyiv Independent.
Russia promises to respond to the attack.
