Around 40 people are missing after a boat sank off the island of Crete, according to the Greek coast guard.
Reports suggest 39 survivors have been found so far.
One person has so far been confirmed dead after the boat sank south of the small island of Gavdos just after midnight. Gavdos is located south of Crete.
A major rescue operation using boats and helicopters has been launched.
