Syria’s security forces launched an operation on Thursday against what they refer to as militias in Tartus province, which support the former Assad regime.
The operation has already succeeded in “neutralizing a certain number” of armed men loyal to ousted President Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian news agency Sana reported on Boxing Day.
The exile group Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) has recorded several arrests in connection with the clashes.
