Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been re-elected as the chairman of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) during the party’s 8th Ordinary Grand Congress in Ankara.
In his address to the delegates, Erdogan thanked them for their continued trust. “We have completed our 8th Ordinary Grand Congress with great success. I would like to thank each and every one of you for once again deeming me worthy of the Chairmanship,” he said.
Erdogan noted the successful election of the party’s key bodies, congratulating the new members of the Central Decision and Management Board, Central Disciplinary Board, Democracy Arbitration Board, and Political Virtue and Ethics Board.
Highlighting the importance of renewed energy and unity, Erdogan stated, “The struggle to serve the nation is a relay race. From today onwards, we are setting out again with a new excitement and much stronger strength in our party work, state administration, and our struggle to serve our nation and country. Those who serve find honour. We will continue to serve all of Turkey with this understanding.”
