Cyprus: 30-year-old remanded for arson in Limassol

Police in Limassol have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with an ongoing arson investigation.

The arrest took place Saturday to facilitate interrogations related to the case.

The incident occurred around 3am on February 20, 2025, when a fire broke out in a car parked outside the home of its 70-year-old owner in Limassol.

The vehicle was completely destroyed by the fire, which also caused extensive damage to two other cars parked nearby.

Examinations at the scene determined that the fire was started maliciously, using flammable material.

Further investigation led to testimony against the 30-year-old suspect, who was arrested pursuant to a court warrant and taken into custody.

The suspect was brought before the Limassol District Court , where a three-day detention order was issued against him.
