Cyprus narrowly avoided rotating power outages last night.
Hara Kusiappa, spokesperson for the Transmission System Operator, reported on state radio that two malfunctioning units were quickly repaired and reintegrated into the system.
Two additional units at Vasiliko provided an extra 40 megawatts, ensuring that peak demand of 1,108 megawatts at 7:30 pm was met, though just barely.
Kusiappa noted that conventional production exclusively covered demand, as renewable energy sources contributed minimally.
