FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The European Commission announced a €1.3 billion investment in digital technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, data, and cybersecurity, under the EU’s Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL).
The funding, part of the program’s €8.1 billion budget for 2021–2027, aims to enhance Europe’s tech sovereignty and strategic capabilities.
Key priorities include expanding access to generative AI, strengthening cyber resilience, and developing a digital Earth model to support climate adaptation and disaster management.
The program also focuses on digital education and training to build advanced skills and foster talent across the continent.
