FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Swedish journalist Joakim Medin was arrested in Turkey on Thursday, as reported by his employer, Dagens ETC.
Medin, an experienced foreign correspondent with a focus on reporting from Turkey and the surrounding region, has not been heard from in over 24 hours, raising concerns over his safety and well-being.
The newspaper’s editor, Andreas Gustavsson, expressed alarm at the situation, emphasizing the need for a prompt response.
“I demand that the Swedish government react quickly and sharply,” Gustavsson stated in a public appeal.
Medin’s detention comes as a surprise, as he had previously not encountered significant issues with Turkish authorities.
