At least 55 people were killed and dozens injured when an explosives warehouse blew up in the village of Kaungtup in northern Myanmar, according to reports from the BBC and the Associated Press.
The blast occurred around noon local time and damaged about 100 nearby buildings.
Kaungtup lies in the Namhkam area of Shan State, near the country’s eastern border.
The region is controlled by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army, an ethnic armed group fighting Myanmar’s military authorities.
The group said it is investigating the cause of the explosion.
