1957: The Cyprus Inland Telecommunications Authority announced that subscribers in Cyprus could now make simultaneous calls to up to four subscribers in the U.K. or the Irish Republic.

The charge for this service was the normal rate for radiotelephone calls plus an additional 5/- per minute for each U.K. or Irish Republic subscriber after the first.

The new equipment could also be used to connect subscribers not only in the U.K. but also in other parts of Europe, the USA, or Canada.

The charges for these international calls were not yet finalized, but the British Post Office would provide the applicable rates based on the subscriber’s specific requirements.
