1959 – Hundreds of wall plaques featuring Archbishop Makarios arrived in Cyprus via air freight from Germany.
This marks the second consignment, as the first sold out immediately upon arrival in Nicosia.
Unlike other Archbishop-themed souvenirs flooding the Cyprus market, these plaques are considered unique.
Each design features a view of the island as the background, with a depiction of the Ethnarch in ecclesiastical robes in the foreground.
The plaques will go on sale at kiosks and shops in Nicosia and other towns next week.
