FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – A Cyprus court on has acquitted five Israeli men accused of raping a British tourist in 2023, ordering their release after 18 months in prison.
“I am the happiest man on earth,” one of the men said after the verdict. “I just want to return to Israel.”
The case centered on allegations from Ayia Napa, where the British woman claimed the men had forcibly taken her from a party to their hotel room and sexually assaulted her. She reported the incident to hotel security, leading to police involvement.
The court’s ruling ends the legal proceedings, allowing the men to return home.
